Krishnamurti Foundations Launch Landmark Project: The Complete Teachings of J. Krishnamurti

OJAI, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire/ — In an exciting joint effort, the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust in England (KFT), Krishnamurti Foundation of America (KFA), and Krishnamurti Foundation India (KFI) are pleased to announce the launching of a major new publishing project, The Complete Teachings of J. Krishnamurti. This is the authorized, definitive edition of the teachings as defined and delivered by Jiddu Krishnamurti himself.

Rarely in the history of the world’s religions has there appeared a figure of such startling originality as Krishnamurti. Over a period of 65 years, it is said that he spoke to more people than anyone else in modern history. Although “creating a new religion” is counter to everything Krishnamurti taught, it is the Foundations’ mission to make generally available the things he said in their most concrete form. This huge undertaking will bring together-in print and electronic formats-the many texts, both spoken and written, that Krishnamurti produced over his long teaching life.

The sheer volume of Krishnamurti’s teachings (100,000,000 words) calls attention to their monumental importance and the sustained endeavor of one man’s entire lifetime. Unlike other great original teachings of the past, the teachings do not prescribe a code of conduct, a method of search, or any future good; on the contrary, they draw one into observing the immediate present as the matrix, the crucible, of all that is. This signifies a fundamental departure from everything that preceded it.

Each volume of The Complete Teachings will begin with the following items:

– a frontispiece
– a short biographical sketch of Krishnamurti
– a historical timeline of the particular volume
– a prefatory statement and explanation of the start date
– the brief statement dictated by Krishnamurti under the title, The Core of the Teachings

The Complete Teachings will consist of public talks, question-and-answer meetings, dialogues with invited participants, small-and large-group conversations, radio and television interviews, writings and talks on education, seminars, statements, notes and poems. A special section of the project will be devoted to books written or dictated by Krishnamurti. The Foundations envision worldwide distribution of the seventy-five volumes, especially to university and public libraries.

A world-wide campaign has been started to raise $2,500,000 for this project including the funding of free distribution of sets of The Complete Teachings to libraries and universities. Donations from individuals, corporations and foundations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
