From Feb. 27 through March 1, 2014, this non-profit international performance and music advocacy group will bring their "Turn Up The Music Workshop" to the children of servicemen and women stationed at RAF Alconbury and RAF Molesworth in Cambridgeshire, England, and present the military community a high powered performance – the group's first for a U.S. military audience.

"We are all thrilled to have The Young Americans here on base to work with our students," said Stephanie Burgess, the wife of Lt. Col Cornell Burgess, the 423rd Force Support Squadron commander at RAF Alconbury.

The Young Americans tour the world using music as their vehicle to inspire young people and audiences everywhere they go.

"Our organization is very thankful to the 423d Force Support Squadron for the amount of time, energy and love they have put into making this happen.  We are excited and honored to be a part of this wonderful project," said Brooke Robinson, The Young American's Publicist.

The group, which consists of 45 college-aged performers, will teach three-days of music outreach programs to fourth through twelfth grade Department of Defense Education Activity students including classes in singing, dancing and theatre performance. The events conclude with a professionally produced Broadway-type show in the RAF Alconbury Middle-High School Gymnasium featuring The Young Americans performing alongside the students in front of their families, members of the 501st Combat Support Wing and their Mission Partners, and the surrounding military and civilian communities.

"Our youth are fortunate to have this kind of experience," said Burgess, who is also an alumnus of The Young Americans herself. "It's a positive life-changing program that helps our youth and their families feel proud. Participants in these workshops gain confidence and may discover talents they never knew they had. The Young Americans have an exceptional way of teaching team building and self-worth to young people through music and dance. Most importantly, the lessons learned carry over into all aspects of their lives."

Founded 53 years ago in Hollywood, Calif., The Young Americans are known as the world's first show choir. This non-profit music troupe has worked with more than 580,000 young people across the globe. Their "Turn Up The Music Outreach Tours" have included 225 shows per year, across 17 countries and five continents. Through their touring, professional shows, concerts and their own Young Americans College of Performing Arts, The Young Americans remain the pinnacle of excellence in both music and dance performance across the world.
