Young Actor and Young Philanthropist Jordan Van Vranken

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 10, 2011 — Child actor Jordan Van Vranken hosted her first Bowl-A-Thon to raise money to support kids with cancer and to contribute to the 20th Annual ROCK 103 Ronald McDonald House Radiothon. Jordan has participated in the Memphis Ronald McDonald House fundraiser that raises money for the children and their families who are being treated at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital since she was 7. The Bowl-A-Thon was an event she thought would help raise additional funds and allow her Los Angeles-based friends and fellow actors to participate in this worthwhile cause.

"When there's an opportunity to give back, you just do it," noted Jordan. "I will be in Memphis for the annual Radiothon fundraiser in February, but wanted to find a way to include and involve my friends here in LA." Jordan continued to share her experience with St. Jude, her friend Macy's leukemia diagnosis and treatment at St. Jude, and her many years of volunteering at The Ronald McDonald House in Memphis.

"When I lived in Memphis I would play with the kids there, participate in family dinners and various activities, and always help out with the annual Radiothon, an event that has raised over $6.2 million towards the House's operating expenses. Most people don't realize that the young patients being treated at St. Jude and their families stay at the Ronald McDonald House for free…so any fundraising event is critical toward contributing to the operating costs of the House."

This year's ROCK 103/Ronald McDonald House Radiothon will take place over 28 consecutive hours, beginning February 10th at 6 am central time. Audio and video will be streamed live worldwide on the Internet.

Jordan's Bowl-A-Thon was held at Corbin Bowl in Tarzana, CA Sunday, January 9th. She will announce the amount raised from the event on air during the Radiothon in February.

Nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a TV series last year, Jordan can be seen in episodes of Criminal Minds and Nickelodeon's Big Time Rush, and heard in the Warner Brothers/HD Films animated series CHADAM, as the voice of Ripley. She has completed over 20 independent films and plays the lead role of Elizabeth in the indie feature, After the Wizard.
