WASHINGTON, April 17, 2009 — The search for Jana, a German spy, is still on and Abby St. Giles and her two male colleagues uncover plots of counter-espionage, murder and political intrigue from the halls of the Senate to England, Germany, France and Russia. Abby has been sent to France alone to rescue four O.S.S. agents who have crashed, and their whereabouts are unknown. She will join her great aunt, the Countess de la Mont D’Or at her castle in Dijon. While playing the social dilettante at her aunt’s castle she discovers the shocking depths of collaboration between French officials and the Germans, and comes under suspicion by the treacherous Prime Minister, Pierre Leval.
Abby finds and hides the two female agents, only to discover Ben, one of her own, badly wounded sleeping in her closet. While he recuperates, Abby must come up with a plan that will get him out of the castle and safely to the monastery, where the brothers can treat him. While she is there she must get a message back to Switzerland via carrier pigeon, as it is too dangerous to use other means.
Disguised as a nun, she is returning when she is attacked by an SS officer whose intent is to rape and murder her; she is rescued by an SS Colonel, who kills the other officer. She returns to the castle and dresses for the formal concert-soiree her aunt is hosting that evening.
