Wavien's RLT™ Technology Increases the Brightness of Plasma Lamps in Spot Light Applications

VALENCIA, Calif., Oct. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Wavien, Inc. is applying the Recycling Light Technology (RLT) used for LEDs to plasma lamps for spot light applications and demonstrated an increase of over 80% in brightness of the system. With application of the RLT technology to the plasma lamp, the system will be able to compete in high brightness with traditional lamps and long lifetime with LEDs.  With these combined advantages, this system allows low cost, high output solutions for spot lights, moving heads, and other lighting applications in the entertainment and architectural markets.

Wavien's RLT technology recaptures light lost in standard optical system and redirects it back to the output of the system to become useable light.  As a result, depending on system configurations, an output improvement of over 100% can be achieved.  "Wavien continues to advance the RLT technology and offers outstanding brightness by recovering and recycling high angle light from LEDs and plasma lamps that is normally wasted with traditional coupling systems," stated Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the recycling technology.  Dr. Li added:  "This RLT technology uses a simple reflector with an aperture placed in front of the light source with the diameter of the aperture determining the amount of recycling.  The size of the reflector can be scaled to meet the user's needs.  Clearly, having such improvements in performance with minimum change in configuration, the combination of plasma lamps with RLT technology will find applications in many areas in the entertainment and architectural markets," stated Dr. Li.
