Wavien, Inc. and Meiloon Industrial Co., Ltd. Announce a Plan to Introduce a Long Life DPR, Ultra-Short-Throw Projector

VALENCIA, Calif., April 28, 2010 — Wavien, Inc. and Meiloon Industrial Co., Ltd. today announce a joint plan to introduce an Ultra-Short-Throw (UST) projector for the educational and home theatre markets.

"Wavien's DPR technology offers a longer lifetime, significantly improved and maintained brightness, and higher efficiency in projection applications when used with ultra high pressure mercury from qualified vendors," stated Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the DPR technology. Dr. Li added: "This unique patented design enables a significant reduction in the cost of projector operation, which is especially important in classrooms where projector usage is very high and home theatre applications where trouble-free operation is essential."

"Short throw projection is the market trend of projection display for large screen display at low cost while mobility and space are considered, and Meiloon is one of the ODM leaders in the market right now," said Dr. Michael Tang, head of Opto-electronics BU of Meiloon. "Lamp life and replacement cost is always a big issue for projectors especially in the areas of high service and labor cost such as North America and Europe, where short throw projectors with much longer lamp life is highly expected." Dr. Tang added, "Eventually LED lighting is the solution for such problem, but current efficiency is not good enough when over 1,000 lumens are demanded, so DPR can be a nice solution before significant improvement by LED lighting."

Last summer Wavien and Texas Instruments announced a co-marketing effort using Wavien's DPR technology for projectors aimed at the educational market.
