Wavien, Inc. Introduces a New 'Projector Block' Concept Based on a Proprietary 7-LED Array Using Wavien's Powerful RLT(TM) Recycling LED Technology Suitable for 24,000 Lumen Quad HD Digital Cinema Projectors

LAS VEGAS, March 29, 2011 — Wavien, Inc., of Valencia, CA, is demonstrating the next generation of their new RLT™-LED array recycling technology with the latest high-performance Red, Green, and Blue LEDs at CinemaCon 2011 in Las Vegas. These arrays are made by LEDs supplied by Osram Opto and are the next step in a powerful, cost-effective, and energy-efficient solution for Digital Cinema and other large-venue projectors with on-screen-outputs from 6,500 to over 24,000 lumens.

A single heat and light-efficient Wavien RLT-LED array can be used to effectively illuminate large venues and small theaters with 6,500 on-screen lumens. This unique LED package can serve as a "Projector Block" (PB) modular package for higher light output and/or higher definition projector systems by combining and/or optically overlaying images with widely used, commercially available digital edge-blending methods.

A powerful combination of four PB units can be used to create a Quad HD digital cinema projector with over 24,000 on-screen lumens. This high-output system allows the replacement of a standard, xenon-based projector illuminator which has a typical short-lived xenon lamp lifetime of 500 to 1,000 hours. The RLT-LED illumination system provides a more constant and predictable light output and has a proven light-source lifetime of over 20,000 hours.

The red, green, and blue RLT-LED arrays are an efficient, cost-effective choice for high-performance DLP™, and liquid-crystal imager-based systems. A conventional reflective polarizer will enable the RLT-LED arrays to produce polarized light used in all common liquid-crystal imaging applications including SXRD™, DILA™, LCOS, and 3LCD projection systems.

RLT is Wavien's Recycling Light Technology, a compact, low-cost, passive component technology that increases over 2 times the useable light output of conventional LEDs by collecting high angle-led generated light, that would be wasted in conventional illumination systems, and redirecting it into a more compact, useful, and brighter beam. The useable LED light output is significantly boosted by the RLT reflector with no additional LED input power required and no decrease in LED lifetime.

"Wavien is a U.S.-based and financed, R&D and technology-licensing company working on illumination systems for digital projection, entertainment lighting systems, fiber optics, and architectural lighting. Light sources include arc lamps, LEDs, and lasers," stated Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the RLT and DPR systems. Dr. Li added: "At this time, we have licensees of RLT and DPR systems in Taiwan. Wavien is also working with potential licensees in the United States, Japan, and other countries."

Wavien extends an invitation to interested parties to visit the Wavien booth in Las Vegas, Caesars Palace, at Booth # 1611A from March 28th to 31st, 2011. Please contact Harry Farrar for further details at 1.661.294.2900 ext 210
