Comprehensive degree offers in-depth leadership and research skills necessary to lead in today's changing world.

TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The University of St. Thomas in Minnesota, a pioneer in police graduate education, now offers a Master of Arts in Public Safety and Law Enforcement Leadership program 100% online to serve law enforcement and public safety professionals seeking advanced skills and knowledge to lead in their fields.

The degree program, once only available at St. Thomas' campuses in Minnesota, provides in-depth leadership and research knowledge in public safety administration, federal and national policy-making, and the dynamics of community organizations.

"Our Master's degree program is ideal for a variety of law enforcement or public safety officials," says Dr. Deb DeMeester, Director of Public Safety and Law Enforcement Leadership Programs at St. Thomas. "Whether they seek to advance within their current department or agency, or move into a new role with another agency, students will develop the skills necessary to advance the common good – and to lead others in doing the same."

St. Thomas, ranked a Best National University by U.S. News & World Report, is the only university to offer a graduate degree that combines topics in both public safety and law enforcement leadership. The online program follows the same curriculum standards as St. Thomas' campus programs and online students receive the same diplomas.

St. Thomas has nearly 50 years of experience enhancing community relationships and preparing peace officers for a wide range of leadership roles in local, state and federal agencies. In this program students will learn leadership and critical thinking skills and knowledge that will position them for career advancement.

Students and instructors will communicate, share ideas and network online through state-of-the-art technology powered by University Alliance. Instructor-led videos will introduce topics such as strategies for solving community problems; understanding federal and national policy-making; and decision-making as a leader. Students can discuss these issues by using interactive group study tools and online discussion boards. The online classroom is accessible 24/7 from any internet ready device, including mobile phones and tablet computers, and there are no mandatory login times.

Enrollment for the Master of Arts in Public Safety and Law Enforcement Leadership is now open and classes begin in March. To learn more, or to enroll, visit www.StThomasOnline.com or call 855-295-1867.
