This year's theme is "Advancing Clean Energy: Transition to a Sustainable Global Economy." The conference will be held at the LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Doerr-Hosier Center at the Aspen Meadows Resort.

AREDAY has become America's premier renewable energy networking event, featuring clean energy world leaders from the public and private sectors. "The forum promotes powerful cross-sector dialogue and collaboration among these creative minds," says Chip Comins, AREDAY Summit founder and chairman of the American Renewable Energy Institute (AREI), host of the conference.

Speakers include Ted Turner, T. Boone Pickens, General Wesley Clark, oceanographer Sylvia Earle, FERC Chairman Jon Wellinghoff, Lester Brown of Earth Policy Institute, Rocky Mountain Institute founder and physicist Amory Lovins, venture capitalist Hermant Taneja and American businessman Edgar Bronfman, Jr.

Lively interactions among past panelists have led to several innovative collaborations. Ocean Elders was launched at AREDAY in 2011 by Sylvia Earle, Ted Turner and Richard Branson. International Women's Earth and Climate Initiative and iMatter Kids vs Global vs. Warming campaign were also spawned at AREDAY Summits.

Panel discussions will focus on the built environment, wind, solar, algae, natural gas, electric vehicles and women's leadership, among other topics. See the complete list of speakers here.

AREDAY has partnered with Advanced Energy Economy to host at the Summit the third in a series of utility company CEO meetings to discuss clean generation and transmission of electricity.

Jigar Shah, President of Jigar Shaw Consulting, former CEO of the Carbon War Room and a regular AREDAY speaker, has said: "AREDAY is unparalleled in its reach and convening-power to inspire the right conversations to fix our main problems."

AREDAY includes several public events in addition to the Summit throughout the long weekend. On Thursday, August 15, the AREDAY Film Fest shows a variety of films with environmental themes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Paepcke Auditorium. On Sunday, August 18, the free AREDAY Expo takes place in downtown Aspen, with music, demonstrations, exhibits and a 3pm puppet show with IBEX Puppetry's Heather Henson, daughter of Jim Henson, presenting Celebration of Flight.

"We're at the forefront of an unprecedented industrial revolution, which positions us for unparalleled economic opportunity within the renewable energy field," says Comins.

AREDAY is a project of the non-profit AREI, a 501c3. AREI provides an umbrella for the American Climate & Energy Literacy Initiative (ACELI), designed to create an educational curriculum for K-12 and community colleges based on the science of climate and energy.

ACELI's goals are to help bridge the gap between science and popular culture and create a partnership with industry to offer clean tech jobs to graduates of the two-year college program.

Sponsors of the 10th annual AREDAY include North American Power, Turner Enterprises Inc, Formula-E, Solazyme, US Green Building Council, Greenpeace, Origin Oil, American Clean Skies Foundation, Holy Cross Energy and the Sopris Foundation. AREI also partners with the City of Aspen, local environmental groups CORE and CLEER, Advanced Energy Economy Foundation and the UN Foundation.
