LOS ANGELES, Sept. 15, 2009 — Tim Sanders plans to re-launch his book, Saving The World At Work, exactly one year from its publication date.
On September 15, 2008, Lehman Brothers announced its impending bankruptcy and a firestorm of economic worry was unleashed - consuming everyone’s attention for the next nine months. Unless you were writing about the next Great Depression or the election, you were not relevant to the national discussion.
According to best-selling author and former Yahoo executive Tim Sanders, it’s time to get back to thinking about our future and not just survival. “By the fall of 2008, the Green Movement was at full steam, along with community corporate responsibility and human resource development. All these initiatives had one thing in common: They were geared for the long term. They were ignored, abandoned and scoffed in late 2008 and early 2009. In survival mode, people forget that the central cause of the economic crisis was short-term thinking.”
On September 16, 2009, Sanders will re-launch his book with a social media campaign geared to inspire authors, leaders, workers and activists to resume their efforts to plan for the next few decades. “The premise of my book is more true than ever. CSR, People Development and Sustainability matter! On the other side of the recession will come a new consumer mindset that buys the story about the company behind the product or service. The super talent of the future will pursue purpose plus paycheck. If you want to help your company, help it make a difference and not just a dollar,” says Sanders.

A cadre of bloggers, Facebook and Twitter users and media personalities have joined Sanders’ campaign to revive a book that was largely ignored when it was published. While a book re-launch is rare, Sanders is confident in this campaign’s potential. His first book, Love Is The Killer App: How To Win Business & Influence Friends, hit the New York Times best-seller list in December 2002 - almost one year from its original publication date.
Saving The World At Work is a hybrid business trends/motivational book that identifies the Social Responsibility Revolution, the biggest business event of our lifetime. The book argues that to attract top talent, profitable customers and savvy investors, companies must serve people, communities and the environment. The main point of the book is that one person, regardless of rank, can change the world by taking his or her social values to work.
