INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev., Dec. 2, 2009 — In 32 years as a criminal lawyer, James Sepulveda has seen about everything one human being can do to one another – both good and bad. What is it about humans as a species that prevents us from progressing to a more enlightened state? Technology has certainly changed, but the way we treat and mistreat one another has remained fairly constant.
Sepulveda’s philosophical musings, on civilizations, history, deity, human life and the afterlife, all come together in his account of “The Truth (As I See It)” (published by iUniverse). After a life doubting God, Sepulveda read Neale Donald Walsch’s series and felt God telling him to write his thoughts and experiences into this manuscript. Written much like a series of op-ed pieces on organized religion, government, gender relations, education, the illegal drug trade – Sepulveda’s candid and often moving – and controversial – look at the human condition today will provoke readers to open their minds, think about these issues in depth, and perhaps feel motivated to seek personal, community, or national change. While proposing some solutions and leaving many questions unanswered, Sepulveda’s “The Truth” will surely be an enlightening read from one with the experience and observations to back his ideas up.
