FISHERS, Ind., April 9, 2009 — Laughter is the universal connector: we need it, we want it and we seek it. It can lift our spirits, heal our hurts, and help us adjust our attitudes. “The Busy-Body Book of Fun-Atomy Tunes” (published by AuthorHouse), written by first-time author Karla R. Poer and illustrated by her daughter, Anna, is all about laughter and fun. This children’s book combines silly and entertaining songs about the human body with religious teachings and insights.
“The biggest message I could hope to convey is that God loves you and wants to be near you,” Poer writes. “He will use sad times and troubles, as well as fun times and laughter to draw us to Him. You see, God is all about connection, and so are we. That would be my second desire: that our book would bring people into closer connection with each other as they spend time reading and singing and laughing together. As those pleasure-bonds increase, hopefully loads become lighter and spirits will be lifted. Maybe the reader will even be inspired to come up with a few verses or pictures of their own!”
“The Busy-Body Book of Fun-Atomy Tunes” is a fun and unique way to take a different look at the “bodies that God gave us all.” With these tongue-twisting tunes, one’s mouth and brain are sure to get a real workout. Each verse is sung to the tune of either “Do Your Ears Hang Low?” or “Twinkle Little Star,” and offers humorous insight into the ways of our rather strange body parts. “The Busy-Body Book of Fun-Atomy Tunes” was written for children of all ages. Most of all, it is a book meant for simple fun and is a lighthearted way to lift readers’ spirits — even in the worst of times.
Poer’s songs are lighthearted and easy to sing, as evidenced in her song, “Loose Lips” (to the tune of “Do Your Ears Hang Low?”):
“Do your lips hang loose?
Can you honk ‘em like a goose?
Can you toot ‘em like a tuba?
Can you moo ‘em like a moose?
Can you put ‘em in your pocket
for a little peace and quiet?
Do your lips hang loose?”
