As an upgrade to last year's popular DS213, the DS214 delivers an optimal price/performance solution to securely share data in a variety of productive environments
The DS214 runs Synology's award-winning DiskStation Manager 4.3 (DSM 4.3). The latest version of DSM includes several features that make the DS214 a versatile tool for a variety of scenarios.
DSM 4.3 includes utilities like:
- Cloud Station with selective sync – keep files, file types, and folders up to date on all devices
- File Station folder link sharing – easily share content without having to set user permissions
- Android, iOS, and now Windows Phone support – for convenient remote access
The DS214 improves on the DS213 by transitioning from single core, to dual core processing – with integrated floating-point unit (FPU). The added performance boost brings with it read/write speeds of over 100 MB/s, and the FPU dramatically increases the speed of thumbnail generation. Additionally, Synology has included its new tool-less drive bays, for easier drive instillation.
Designed to be cool, quiet, and energy efficient, the DS214 is significantly more cost effective and easy to manage than comparable PC equivalents.
