ATLANTA, April 20, 2009 — Radicomm, Inc. has partnered with Motorola and Intermec to create QuickTalk, a Push-to-Talk software client for rugged Windows Mobile and CE devices.
An inside-the-four-walls voice communication solution, QuickTalk is especially useful in warehouses, distribution centers, and other industrial environments, including the healthcare and food distribution industries. This VoIP software runs seamlessly on today’s most popular Automated Data Collection (ADC) devices, including the Motorola MC9090, MC75 and MC55, or the Intermec CN3, CK3 and CK61. And since QuickTalk utilizes a site’s existing wireless infrastructure, the drawbacks of traditional push-to-talk services are eliminated — no monthly wireless charges or dropped connections.
There’s also a Windows PC version, which creates an ideal solution for office employees to communicate with workers on the warehouse floor. “Imagine being able to converse directly with any employee in your warehouse at any given time, over the same device he already uses to perform his primary tasks. The time savings in labor management alone is remarkable,” explains Brad Radaker, co-founder and CEO of Radicomm.
The QuickTalk client starts in the background and runs invisibly on a worker’s mobile device. Then when a supervisor or another authorized individual calls out to him, a push-to-talk connection “chirp” is heard, followed directly by the caller’s voice. The recipient’s screen does not change. If he was scan receiving merchandise through the company’s WMS system, for example, he would still see the same screen and can even continue performing that same function while listening to the caller. To respond, the recipient simply holds down a designated button on his mobile device as if it was a walkie-talkie.
QuickTalk not only allows supervisors to call out to their workers, but it can also enable workers to quickly contact their supervisors. Even site-to-site trust relationships can be created so that certain users in one site can contact certain users in another site over the company WAN. These and other options are configurable through a Windows-based administration program. QuickTalk also exposes a “single sign-on” interface so 3rd party software can be created to automatically log users into the QuickTalk system whenever they’re logged into an external system such as a WMS.
QuickTalk is completely free for up to five users. Additional users may be added for a low one-time cost, and volume discounts are also available. Go to http://www.radicomm.com for more details.
