Staying Warm with the Help of Equal Health

GALVESTON, Texas, Jan. 5, 2009 — Hurricane Ike devastated the Texas coast on September 5, 2008, and thousands of residents from Galveston and surrounding cities are still without shelter. With the help of the employees at Equal Health, some of the residents now living in tents will be able to stay warm in the coming winter nights.

On November 29, Brady Spears, Equal Health CEO and former Galveston resident, personally delivered 50 heaters to the displaced families still waiting for permanent shelter. “After all they’ve been through and conditions they are now living in it’s uplifting to see that they are getting some help from generous donations and I’m proud that we are a part of that. Those people are true survivors,” said Spears.

The Arlington, Texas-based Equal Health has just over 40 employees who donated $500 to the effort. The figure was doubled to $1000 by Equal Health president Chris Novinger and all of the money went toward the purchase of the much-needed heaters. Novinger adds, “Our employees always step up to challenges like this. When we told them about how we planned to help, every single employee pitched in. We’re in the business of keeping families safe and healthy and this is just one more way to do that.”
