New windshield tag certified for use on India's national highways for Electronic Toll Collection (ETC)
HONG KONG, July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — STAR Systems, a leading provider of UHF RFID tags for automatic vehicle identification, announced that the VENUS windshield tag by STAR-RFID has received approval from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) for use across India's national highways. Meeting the requirements of India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) Resolution H-25011/4/2011-P&P (Toll) Vol. II, the VENUS windshield tag is fit to be used with India's United Electronic Toll Collection System across all toll plazas along the national highways.
This announcement comes just in time for Indian automobile manufacturers who must comply with the Central Motor Vehicles Rules. The new rules require that vehicle builders must fit a RFID tag on the windshield of all motor vehicles starting in October 2013.

The VENUS windshield tag is uniquely suited for ETC using ISO 18000-6C passive tags. In tolling and other vehicle applications it is critical to have a consistently reading tag within the "read zone." Weak tags could be missed while extra-strong tags can cause issues with cross lane reads.
