The Sports Geek Sets Traffic Records on Super Bowl Sunday

LONDON, Ontario, Feb. 5, 2013 – The popular sports betting website TheSportsGeek.com has set personal traffic records this past "Super Bowl Sunday," website owner Kevin McClelland said in a statement.

More than 4,800 visitors visited the website looking for information about betting on the big game, which beats their old traffic record by over 500 visitors.

The Sports Geek provides betting information for all sports, but their main focus is professional football. McClelland said that the traffic increase is expected on Super Bowl Sunday as the Super Bowl is known as the biggest sports betting event of the year in North America.

Super Bowl 47 played between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers in New Orleans also set TV ratings records, social media records, and Las Vegas gambling records.

A record $98.9 million was bet on this year's Super Bowl at Nevada sportsbooks, and millions more were expected to be wagered by North Americans at off-shore accounts. The Nevada based sportsbooks reported a $7.2 million win on the game, which was their most since 2007.

McClelland stated that the popular searches that brought visitors to his website included information on betting the "over/under" for the game, Super Bowl prop bets, and funny Super Bowl bets. Every year The Sports Geek features an article that takes a look at some of the funny or ridiculous prop bets that the off-shore betting sites offer to their members, and it is always one of the most popular articles on the website on Super Bowl Sunday.

This year's funny Super Bowl bets included the length of Alicia Keys' singing of Star Spangled Banner, whether or not Jay-Z would appear during the halftime show, and the always popular bet on what color Gatorade gets poured on the winning head coach.

For all your Super Bowl betting information be sure to check out www.TheSportsGeek.com next February, as they look to set another traffic record for their 4 year old website.
