Smartphone, ID, Cards and Cash: Grab N Go Band Keeps Everything Together, While Users Get On with Life

DEERFIELD, Ill., Oct. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Minimalism is all the rage in design circles, but many would-be entrepreneurs forget one thing—a minimalist product must still be useful. Danny Wilk, though, has not lost sight of this basic principle. Wilk is bringing his Midwest ingenuity to bear on the problem of how to reduce the amount of "stuff" that people carry around every day. His answer: the Grab N Go Band, a preposterously simple way to organize and carry life's bare essentials—namely a smartphone, a photo ID, a credit card or two, and some ready cash. For the most part, that's all one needs to navigate the world of 2013.

The Grab N Go Band is a unique die-cut piece of rubber that fits across the back of most smartphones. It fits snugly over either a bare phone or a protective case; cards, cash and a key slide underneath the band. Photos on the Kickstarter page show the product in use on the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S4, the current leaders in the smartphone market.

To support his endeavor, Wilk has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. He's had success on the platform as recently as last spring, when he reached his funding goal for the Wallet Works, a cleverly designed minimalist wallet. About a month remains on the Grab N Go Band campaign, and the numbers are already encouraging. Nearly 400 backers have pledged over 50% of the funding goal. Clearly, support for minimalist products is strong and stable.

"Grab N Go Bands are the next evolution from the wallet," explains Wilk. "They're not just a 'better' wallet, they're an entirely new concept. Eighty-plus percent of the time that people leave their homes, they simply don't need all of the stuff that's crammed into a wallet or purse. Consider a trip to the gym, the local grocery store, the movies, walking the dog, or simply enjoying a night out on the town; in none of those cases do you really need any more than a few basic things."

As the Kickstarter campaign winds down, expect more news from Wilk, including a broader selection of colors for the Grab N Go Band.
