With a hosted accounting solution, The Resource Connection does not have to maintain a server and can allow program directors at its 16 rural sites to access the system without the connectivity issues it had with a virtual private network. As a result, the organization could reduce costs for IT staffing and save time by allowing immediate and consistent access to AccuFund users.
"When we were hosting internally, we were paying our IT department for maintenance on a server and had users getting kicked off," explained Michelle Gonzalez, finance director at The Resource Connection. "Having a hosted system ensures that all our data is backed up at an offsite location and reduces our IT staff costs because AccuFund automatically takes care of the maintenance. We could move away from having full-time IT staff to using consultants."
With AccuFund Online, The Resource Connection's program directors can access information whenever needed, even from home, and run reports any time they need to look at budgets, requisitions, etc. Through AccuFund's reporting, they can obtain the information they require to make decisions and process tasks.
The Resource Connection realized further time and cost savings by going to one system instead of two for human resources and payroll, as AccuFund Online includes all the modules of the AccuFund Accounting Suite, such as the Human Resources module.
"I like that the HR module integrates so well with the Payroll module in the AccuFund Accounting Suite, so we no longer have to do double entry between HR and payroll to track employee information," states Gonzalez. "All the information is in one location in AccuFund."
By implementing electronic purchasing and requisition via AccuFund, The Resource Connection has also reduced paper usage as well as saved staff time spent tracking and locating requisitions.
"We are very happy with AccuFund Online and the Accounting Suite. It is easy to use, understand and train people on," reported Gonzalez. "I get very excited about AccuFund because it's allowed me to do things and go places that I've envisioned. I light up when I talk about it."
