App's classroom-specific features allow teachers to create long division activities for students and track their progress
MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Long Division Touch, a free math app for the iPhone and iPad, was released last fall to help users learn long division. The app was met with positive feedback by teachers who were interested in using the app in their classrooms, but there was one problem – the app included an in-app purchase of $.99 USD to unlock unlimited practice problems. As it turns out, many schools can't use apps that include an in-app purchase. Instead, schools need apps without any locked content.

This week a new version of the Long Division Touch app has been released for schools. The new app is called Long Division Touch – Classroom Edition. The app is $0.99 USD through March and doesn't contain any locked content. It is available for educators through Apple's Volume Purchase Program.

The app contains new features that are specific for classroom use. Teachers can create activities in the app and specify how many and what types of long division problems a student should practice. They can choose how many digits are in the divisor in order to control the level of difficulty for their students. Educators may opt to use Kodiak Reporting in the app, which provides reports that track student progress.
The app developer, Regular Berry Software, has previously released the app Algebra Touch. Algebra Touch is an educational math app that lets users explore and play with algebra concepts. It's used in many classrooms to supplement lessons as well as by students of all ages who are interested in refreshing their math skills.
