CUMBERLAND, N.C., Sept. 28, 2009 — A new iPhone application offers dolphin enthusiasts, or any technophile with an appreciation for marine life, the chance to care for their own pet dolphins in an interactive underwater environment at any time of the day or night. Launched today by Quick Hitz Lab, Dolphin Experience (http://www.quick-hitz-lab.com/dolphin-experience.htm) uses vivid graphics and intuitive motion controls to create a realistic application that pushes the limits of the iPhone.
Dolphin Experience offers three panoramic marine environments - the lagoon, the sea aquarium and the deep sea - that can be navigated with touch, flick and tilt motion. The player can choose to interact with the dolphins in the morning, afternoon, evening or at midnight, but the dolphins decide where they will swim each day and how they will interact with the toys the player presents to them.
The app’s graphics and three-dimensional animation are extreme, creating dynamic water, lighting and environmental effects. In spite of the visual effects, Dolphin Experience is all about the lifelike interaction among the player, the dolphins and the sea and its inhabitants.
In the sea aquarium, the dolphins frolic in a large stadium. The player can toss out balls and watch the dolphins retrieve them, position hoops for the dolphins to jump through, and call the dolphins up onto the platform, where they wait to be fed and respond to the player’s touch.
The dolphins can also play with hoops and balls in the lagoon. While there, the player can don snorkel gear and explore a coral reef complete with curious tropical fish, sea turtles, starfish and stingrays. All are interactive and respond to touch controls. By tilting the iPhone, the player can pan side to side or above and below water.
In contrast to the sea aquarium and the peaceful lagoon, the deep sea is stormy and treacherous. A sunken ship looms underwater, while the occasional Great White Shark swims by - until, on the player’s command, the dolphins bully him and he beats a hasty retreat. The dolphins can be called up onto the boat, where they might “talk.” During the storm, the rain blows straight into the iPhone’s screen and lightning flashes overhead.
“Every day will offer players something new when playing Dolphin Experience,” stated Marc Weinstock, president of Quick Hitz Lab. “It offers a new perspective with interactivity that is open to discovery the more you play. Fans of Koi Pond or Flick Fishing will fall in love with this app.”
Dolphin Experience is available for $1.99 at the App Store. In the near future, Quick Hitz Lab plans to introduce updates to Dolphin Experience, including challenging game levels where players’ pet dolphins complete missions, navigate obstacle courses and explore new locations around the globe. Future updates will also include Voice and Name Recognition commands. To learn more, visit http://www.quick-hitz-lab.com/dolphin-experience.htm.
