Public Relations Firm JoTo PR Brings Positive Impact to Community — Provides Pro-Bono Work for Non-Profits

A growing PR firm in Tampa Bay provides pro bono work for local non-profits in addition to its client services and contributes to the growth of Tampa Bay.

CLEARWATER, Fla., March 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — With many nonprofits struggling to stay afloat amid the challenging economy, Clearwater-based JoTo PR has committed to helping Tampa Bay organizations succeed. As a national PR firm with clients primarily in the finance, technology and healthcare industries, JoTo PR has made it part of its corporate responsibility to lend a helping hand to local community projects. Founded by Karla Jo Helms and Diane D. Stein in 2009, JoTo PR has helped local non-profit groups realized increased funds, growth in media awareness and higher attendance at their events.

Helms and Stein say they provide pro bono services because they are aware of the needs of people or organizations and have a belief that Public Relations professionals should give back to their communities. From its inception, the Florida PR firm has helped some of Tampa Bay's leading non-profit organizations, including:

  • American Cancer Society – Relay For Life
  • Sunscreen Film Festival
  • Humane Society of Pinellas County
  • Tampa Bay Veterans Alliance
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast
  • Martin Luther King Community Center

JoTo PR was also influential in promoting Front Row Tampa Bay as one of its community sponsors. The four day event was created by the Tampa Bay Partnership to establish the Tampa Bay area as a region of significance and economic power. Held during the 2012 Republican National Convention, it was successful in drawing over 5,000 visitors. Through outreach effort involving sponsors, economic development partners and supporters from throughout the region, the Partnership was able to track over 16 million brand impressions before the show began.

Helms, JoTo's CEO, believes that giving back is the best way to achieve positive results for both the community and her business.

"It is our responsibility as a company to encourage a positive impact on our local region using our expertise," said Helms. "Combining the manpower of these organizations with our communications skills and resources yields strong accomplishments for our community as a whole – plus there's a huge personal satisfaction in giving back."

JoTo PR does not discriminate against organizations on the basis of religion or cause, as long the non-profit has an aim to better the world; however, there are a limited number of non-profit slots available per year. Applications for non-profits to request help can be made by contacting the company through their website.
