Posillico, Inc. Wins $24 Million Contract with NYSDOT; Contract is Part of NYSDOT's Design-Build Program to Rehabilitate Bridges Throughout the State

FARMINGDALE, N.Y., Dec. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Posillico, Inc. has been selected as the best value contractor for the Design-Build Accelerated Bridge Program in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Posillico Civil, Inc. is a leader in Public Works construction in the New York, Tri-State Area, and known for completing highly complex civil construction projects for over five decades.

The Accelerated Bridge Program has been called "a laboratory for innovation." The aim of this program is to improve project delivery and reduce costs by streamlining projects using the Design-Build project delivery system. Posillico Civil, Inc. has teamed with Greenman-Pedersen, Inc., to carry out the project design work, and L.K. McLean Associates, P.C. to perform professional engineering inspection on the project.  By utilizing the Design-Build project delivery system, the design, construction, and inspection work is performed under a contract with one entity. This allows design and construction to progress together reducing the overall timeframe as compared to conventional design-bid-build delivery methods.

The six bridges included in the Program are: Pinelawn Road, Ronkonkoma Avenue and Waverly Avenue all over the Long Island Expressway I-495, Hempstead Turnpike over Belmont Park access road, and Great Neck Road over Sunrise Highway, and Robert Moses Causeway over Ocean Parkway.

For three generations, Posillico Civil, Inc. has combined quality performance with seasoned experience in civil, materials, environmental, drilling, and consulting. Posillico, Sr. as a small trucking contractor, the company has grown to become one of the top engineering contracting firms in New York. According to President/CEO Joseph K. Posillico, "The strategic growth of our organization during the past decade, which included the hiring and development of key managers with wide ranging experience, along with the strength of the staff, key personnel, and experience that our design and inspection team members provided to our team, was a key factor in Posillico being chosen for this project."  Posillico employs as many as four-hundred people, and serves the entire Tri-State Area.
