LavaCat, surpassing 25,000 downloads, reaches 87th on Google Play's list of top 500 free games
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — PocketCake, a mobile app developer, has announced that its first game, LavaCat, will be available in mid-September on iOS, Facebook, the Chrome Web Store and Ouya, a portable game console that premiered in late June.
The game will be a significant improvement over its original version, which was released for Android devices on Saturday, July 27. That version of LavaCat included 10 levels, five power-ups and a mobile industry first: players can overcome death by rewinding time.
The new version of LavaCat, free on every system except Ouya, will include 20 levels, all-new obstacles and three minigames: LavaCat Jump (in which the player guides the character up a series of rock platforms); LavaCat Run (an advanced level of LavaCat that uses forced movement) and LavaCat Fly (in which the player pinballs the character upward off cat treats).
LavaCat has been downloaded on Google Play more than 25,000 times, reaching 87th on the list of top 500 new free games. LavaCat's rating is 4.5 out of 5. Out of 219 reviews, 175 are five stars. The original version of LavaCat was completed in two and a half months by primarily one graphic artist and one programmer.
LavaCat is an action-adventure game appropriate for all ages. It stars Lucky, a kitten who must triumph over caves full of dangers — including falling rocks, flaming lava balls, lava fish and mini volcanoes — if he is to be reunited with his family. To survive, Lucky needs to summon SpiritCat and become LavaCat, a supercat that can withstand lava and paw aside whatever obstacles lie in his path.
