Oktoberfest in New York City to Go Sky High at 230 FIFTH

Manhattan's Largest Rooftop Bar Taps Into Its Inner German for the First Time

NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Oktoberfest 2012 in New York City will take on a new vertical dimension with the entry of 230 FIFTH into the roster of annual salutes to the fabled Bavarian beer bacchanalia. Five German beers and two Germanic gastronomic classics will supplement the considerable attractions of Manhattan's largest Rooftop Garden and Penthouse Lounge, when 230 FIFTH inaugurates its first Oktoberfest celebration, Sept. 22 to Oct. 7. Beck's Oktoberfest, St. Pauli Girl, Spaten Oktoberfest, Hacker-Pschorr and Paulaner will be added to the rooftop bar's libations list for the duration of  230 FIFTH's High Altitude Oktoberfest, along with a bratwurst and cucumber potato salad platter and a custom made giant pretzel to soak up some of the suds. All the Oktoberfest brews will be priced at $6 a bottle, $8 for a half liter mug and $16 for a full liter mug, while both the bratwurst platter and the pretzel will go for $9.

At Ocktoberfest's mid-point, Saturday Sept. 29, from noon to 6 p.m., 230 FIFTH will up the oomph of its German accented brew-haha with a Sky High Oktoberfest Fete.  For the Sky High Oktoberfest Fete the rooftop bar' s already stunningly memorable atmosphere, with its wunderbar 360 degree views of the Manhattan skyline, will be further enhanced by toe-tapping Bavarian oompah music, the exertions of the "Oktoberfest Olympics" (Teutonic inspired games) and a fall forward decor of pumpkins and corn stalks. For the Oktoberfest Olympics participants will compete in such games and contests as Best Bavarian Dress – Male & Female, Stein Relay, Grain Toss, Pretzel Eating, Stein Hoisting, Grain Tossing and Oktoberfest Trivia for prizes including 230 FIFTH gift certificates for $230 and the rooftop bar's famous signature red robes, which keep guests toasty warm on the roof deck during the winter.

As always at 230 FIFTH, there will be no cover for the Sky High Oktoberfest Fete on Sept. 29 or any of 230 FIFTH's High Altitude Oktoberfest festivities.

230 FIFTH's Oktoberfest German beer and food offerings will be presented daily Sept. 22 through Oct. 7 from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. The Oktoberfest brews will also be available during 230 FIFTH's popular weekend brunch, Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

230 FIFTH is located at 230 Fifth Avenue at the corner of 27th Street in Manhattan's historic Flatiron District. For more information, please visit www.230-fifth.com or call 212-725-4300.
