Northern Light "Factiva Customer Rescue Program" Offers Factiva Customers an Alternative Source for High-Quality Business News Search

BOSTON, Oct. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Northern Light (www.northernlight.com) today announced a "Factiva® Customer Rescue Program" that offers corporate customers of Factiva a high-quality alternative source of business news search at an aggressive price. This program is designed to fill the void created by Dow Jones's recent decision to bundle Factiva into a much higher-priced "DJX" offering for its existing customers.

This program provides Northern Light Business News™ to affected Factiva customers at a flat annual rate of $96,000 for unlimited enterprise use.  As part of the program, Northern Light will, at no charge, replicate existing Factiva queries, search alerts, and distribution lists for seamless migration to the Northern Light service.  This price includes customization of each news portal with the client's colors and branding, as well as training to maximize use of advanced features such as strategic dashboards, collaboration, and portal administration.  Northern Light also will work closely with client IT groups to implement SSO for user authentication and content distribution options such as RSS, XML Web Services API, and SharePoint Web Parts and app parts.

Northern Light assures customers that it has no plans to increase the annual cost.  Factiva customers who come over to Northern Light Business News can enjoy this attractive low price for unlimited enterprise subscriptions in future renewal periods.

"Factiva is a great product and people love it – but love isn't always enough," C. David Seuss, Northern Light's CEO, said.   "Over the past months, three global companies with more than 100,000 professional users of business news switched from Factiva to Northern Light Business News. That's because our news content collection offers excellent global coverage of business and technology with outstanding, high-quality search results, at a fraction of Factiva's price – and that was before Dow Jones's recent consolidation of Factiva into DJX and the pricing changes that came with it."

A robust, enterprise-class technology launched in 2001, with a global installed base, Northern Light Business News is designed to meet the needs of information professionals engaged in business research and analysis.  It offers business news from 5,000 business-focused newswires and Web-based news sites, including business wires, trade journal and association sites, and industry authority bloggers; non-business sources and sections of publications are specifically excluded from the collection.   This approach yields search results with a "high-quality-density." The embedded MI Analyst™ solution is unique because it employs text analytics that are optimized for market and technology intelligence.   When this purpose-built text analytics is applied to high-quality-density results, Northern Light transforms business news search into a tool for strategic business analysis.

The Factiva Customer Rescue program is effective immediately through January 31, 2014.
