IMN and Louisiana Trustee Education Council Host Conference at Hilton New Orleans Riverside, February 22 - 24
NEW YORK, Jan. 27, 2006 — The second annual summit of the Louisiana pension community will be held this year at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, February 22 - 24. Louisiana public pension plans, investment management firms, and pension industry service providers will be among the attendees at the Mardi Gras season conference sponsored by Information Management Network (IMN) and the Louisiana Trustee Education Council (LATEC).
"We have held conferences in New Orleans since 2000 and are thrilled to have the IMN LATEC Mardi Gras Summit return to New Orleans as planned," said Barbara Lambroza, IMN Director. "In addition to our conference providing high-quality education programs and networking opportunities for attendees, we see it as an opportunity to celebrate the rebirth of New Orleans."
"Downtown is in remarkably good shape, with more restaurants, shops and attractions continuing to open. One of our evening events is a Mardi Gras parade in the French quarter. We’ll all benefit from being in New Orleans, and we hope our conference helps bring more business back to the city," Ms. Lambroza concluded.
IMN expects about 250 attendees at its three-day event, which focuses on public pension administration and investment themes. One issue of national importance will be the discussion of lessons learned by the trustees and executive staff of pension plans impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
Also being addressed are the regulatory, investment and accounting issues affecting the funding levels of all US pension plans. In addition, the program will include investment education seminars covering topics that include asset liability management, engineering returns in a low return environment, the search for Alpha, and manager selection strategies.
Speakers include representatives from Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System, NEPC, New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board Pension, Wilshire Associates, New Orleans Firefighters Pension Fund, and Consulting Services Group. State Treasurer John Kennedy will present opening remarks.
