Nerd Nite’s First Annual Global Festival Scheduled for August 16-18 in Brooklyn, New York

Free beer, funny-yet-smart presentations and "Drunk Science" game among highlights of 2013 event

NEW YORK, Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Nerd Nite, the global monthly presentation series during which experts in various disciplines give funny-yet-smart presentations while the audience drinks along, announced the final agenda for its first annual Nerd Nite Global Festival 2013 which will be August 16-18, 2013 at the Brooklyn Lyceum in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY.  The fun and entertaining line-up features nearly 20 of Nerd Nite's greatest hits presenters from across the globe, a games room, free beer for all three days courtesy of Brooklyn Brewery, walking tours by Levy's Unique New York, a concert by all-female-accordion-band The Main Squeeze Orchestra, and an audience participation event called 'Drunk Science' that will be led by the editorial staff of Popular Science and the producers of Radiolab.

Presentations feature Nerd Nite presenters from multiple countries, including Andrew Rader who was recently deemed Canada's biggest know-it-all; Jacob Ward, the editor-in-chief of Popular Science, scientists from the University of Alberta, the University of Texas at Austin, Harvard Medical School, and the American Museum of Natural History's Department of Invertebrate Zoology; and Sam Kean, author of the New York Times bestsellers The Disappearing Spoon and The Violinist's Thumb. The presentations themselves will be varied, entertaining, and informative, ranging from How Dolley Madison helped bring German Beer to America: Connecting Historic Beer Technology with the Rise of Ice Cream as an Iconic American Food to Godzilla: History, Biology and Behavior of Hyper-Evolved Theropod Kaiju.

"Since we here at Nerd Nite have historically done such an extraordinarily poor job of sharing content across our 50+ cities worldwide, we're finally doing something about it," said Matt Wasowski, the Big Boss of Nerd Nite. "Learning is more fun while drinking, and now, learning will be the most funnest ever because our audience will learn from our greatest and most entertaining presenters from across the globe while drinking free Brooklyn Brewery beer, and cheap wine, for three days. I just hope I'm nauseous right now because I'm really excited."

Admission is $100 for a full three-day pass, with day-passes also available for $30, $65, and $50.  All event and ticket information is at
