Neal A. Yeager Releases Cover of Joss Whedon/Angie Hart Song "Blue" on New Album "Stolen Songs"

Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans will recognize the song from the show's final season

LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Neal A. Yeager (http://www.nealayeager.com/stolen-songs.html) has released a recording of the song 'Blue' — a tune which should be easily recognizable to fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer — as the first release from his new album "Stolen Songs." Written by Joss Whedon and Australian pop star Angie Hart, 'Blue' was featured prominently in the final season of the series as the centerpiece of the episode entitled "Conversations with Dead People." Yeager's recording is available on iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/stolen-songs/id715931257), Amazon mp3 (http://www.amazon.com/Stolen-Songs-Neal-A-Yeager/dp/B00FFO32HE/ref=sr_1_1?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&sr=1-1&keywords=neal+yeager) and other online outlets.

Yeager's fourth solo project is entitled "Stolen Songs," in reference to the fact that the album mainly features covers of other people's tunes, including 3 songs from the Whedon universe ("Blue," THC's "Need to Destroy" and Maurissa Tancharoen & Jed Whedon's "Remains"). Stolen Songs got its start when Yeager mentioned to a friend that he thought that whoever chose the music for Joss Whedon's projects did a great job. "I'd never done covers before," he said, "but for some reason I felt this irresistible urge to record 'Need to Destroy' [one of the songs sung by the sexy werewolf Veruka in a Buffy episode]. I enjoyed the experience so much that I recorded a few more tunes from Whedon projects and then it just spilled on over to recording other of my favorite tunes. The acoustic versions of 'Red Rain' and 'Comfortably Numb' in particular I think work well."

In addition to covers of high-profile artists, Yeager took the opportunity to record versions of several tunes by L.A. band Casual Rebels, which he fronted for several years. "I suppose it's kind of a cheat for me to claim that the Casual Rebels tunes are really 'covers,' but the thought of revisiting songs that I haven't performed in years was just too tempting." In particular, the song "Lonely…" was one which he had for some time wanted to re-record. "'Lonely…' is kind of a gut-wrenching song, but I was still a kid when we wrote and recorded it, so it's interesting to me to bring years of life lessons to the new version."

In addition to musical work, Yeager is the author of the novel "The 33rd Year" and the currently running web novel "nonhollywood" ).
