National Differentiated Instruction Conference Delivers for Today's Educators

PETERBOROUGH, N.H., Feb. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Staff Development for Educators (SDE), one of the nation's leading providers of professional development for K-12 educators, is pleased to announce its annual National Conference on Differentiated Instruction, taking place July 7-11, 2014 in Las Vegas.

Each summer, more than 4,000 educators from across the country attend the four-day event to learn about the role of Differentiated Instruction (DI) in education today, an approach to teaching and learning that matches what and how a student learns to the student's readiness level, interests, and learning style in order to foster maximum academic growth.

This year's conference is subtitled "Best Practices, Leadership, & Common Core for Today's Educators," which aptly reflect the core areas that educators indicated were at the forefront of their teaching.

Sessions are presented by some of the nation's foremost experts in DI, including Rick Wormeli, author of Fair Isn't Always Equal, brain-expert Eric JensenHow to Teach Thinking Skills within the Common Core author Robin Fogarty, Ph.D., assessment & grading expert Susan Brookhart, and popular blogger Peter DeWitt.

"SDE's focus is on extraordinary educators, so we want to provide educators with extraordinary presenters at all our events, " explains Kim Breton, SDE's National DI program planner. "Educators attending National DI 2014 will experience top-notch professional development that really targets what is at the heart of DI: best practices, common core and leadership. We want teachers and administrators to feel a sense of excitement and empowerment from this conference."

Designed to teachers and administrators alike, the DI conference is loaded with "how-to" implementation strategies and techniques for helping educators command instruction, and fully addresses the role of differentiated instruction in the classroom today.

Strategy sessions give hands-on examples of how to differentiate content, product, and process. Top authorities deliver powerful tactics to effectively address the needs of struggling learners, conduct successful interventions, and overcome classroom challenges. Each session is designed to re-ignite educators' passion and drive with an increased knowledge of DI, allowing them to return to the classroom with new strategies on subject matter most emphasized by the CCSS, such as writing, special education, technology, intervention, and ELL strategies.

"Educators want hands-on, interactive and easy to implement strategies that they can use with their students that creates a dynamic learning atmosphere, " declares Breton. "Anyone attending National DI will get the same experience as their students from the variety of topics being offered focusing on key DI topics such as struggling learners, whole and small group instruction, centers and many other engaging sessions to choose from."

All sessions are designed to meet the biggest challenges educators are experiencing in the classroom today, including:

  • Teaching with Poverty in Mind
  • 10 Simple Ways to Differentiate
