SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 2, 2009 — natclipse lite is a new addition to the family of development environments offered by innoWake, a provider of state-of-the-art productivity tools for mainframe and legacy systems. Organizations using the Natural programming language can now harness the full power of the Eclipse environment with a very low entry barrier. innoWake’s existing solution natclipse is the market leader in this area and is in use by over 70 enterprises worldwide.
In the past, getting an organization to move to a fully modern development environment with source code management and a defined application lifecycle has been harder for teams deeply ingrained in the Natural and mainframe world. innoWake now offers natclipse lite to allow developers to benefit from the many productivity features of the Eclipse IDE and the Natural plug-in — without having to learn all the details of the software engineering principles behind modern versioning systems like Subversion, IBM ClearCase, or Microsoft Team Foundation Server.

natclipse lite provides the essential Eclipse IDE, with all the language support for the Natural programming language, its object types, its compilers and platforms. However, the model for storing the source code does not change. natclipse lite keeps the source code where it has been — in the host system. Any mechanisms already in place to version or stage the code remain as they are. This way, developers do not have to learn a new code management model. They can stick with what they already know but quickly benefit from all of Eclipse’s tools, extensions, and productivity features.
An upgrade path to the full version of natclipse allows organizations to adopt a fully modernized development mode once they have started down the path of freeing themselves from the graying TN3270-based development screens with natclipse lite.
