Millicorp and ConsCallHome.com to Provide Free Phone Calls for Inmates' Families

FORT MYERS, Fla., April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Millicorp, parent company of ConsCallHome.com, today announced the release of two new services that allow families to save money on inmate phone calls by offering a Free ConsCallHome telephone number.  These innovative products, FreeJailCalls.com and FreePrisonCalls.com, were developed to deal specifically with families and inmates who cannot afford telephone calls.

The idea to reach out to the millions of people who are separated from a loved one was inspired by Commissioner Mignon Clyburn and the dedicated work of the Federal Communication Commission (FCC).   On September 26, 2013, the Commission ruled on an important issue in regard to inmate phone calls.  The purpose of the ruling was to help inmates and families stay connected, and it also clarified that calls to the call routing service provided by ConsCallHome.com to its customers cannot be blocked.  ConsCallHome.com uses VoIP call routing technology to lower the costs of inmate calls to ConsCallHome.com customers, enabling inmates and family members the ability to talk at affordable telephone rates.  The new ConsCallHome products will be effective beginning April 16, 2014 and will continue for an indefinite amount of time.

Alarmingly, there are 12 million people who cycle through the nation's correctional facilities every year, and 2.7 million children with an incarcerated parent.  Many of these children who are already suffering from familial separation are often prevented from talking to a parent simply because of the high cost of telephone calls. Therefore, ConsCallHome decided to lend a helping hand by initiating two services to help serve the families of inmates across the US.  The process is simple. Once the subscriber visits either FreeJailCalls.com or FreePrisonCalls.com, a ConsCallHome telephone number will be issued and the subscriber will be given twenty minutes of free talk time.  Every month thereafter, the twenty minutes will be reset, and the family member and inmate can talk with no worry about the cost for this ConsCallHome.com offering.   To set up this service, the subscriber must have a prepaid account with the prison phone provider; however, ConsCallHome will provide the cost saving phone number for free.  No credit card is required to receive the free calls, but for security purposes identification information will be required.

In a meeting today, Mr. Timothy Meade, CEO and President of Millicorp, stated, "We are proud that ConsCallHome has helped hundreds of thousands of people make millions of calls in the past.   Now we want to help the millions of people who cannot afford to talk to their incarcerated loved one by giving them a free ConsCallHome number.  We know this gesture will touch people every day, bring smiles to the faces of children, and warm the hearts of inmates who are separated from their families, giving hope to families who feel they have been overlooked.  We are proud to follow the Commission's lead to further ensure that families can talk without fear of being blocked, at rates they can afford, by offering our two new services, FreeJailCalls.com and FeePrisonCalls.com."
