iUniverse Presents: ‘The Quantum Matrix: Extraordinary Contact’

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Oct. 22, 2009 — What if you awoke one day to learn that your reality was only a dream — an alternate world created by your captors? That’s exactly the situation in which Kristine Tesla found herself when an unexpected turn of events forced her to run for her life. In “The Quantum Matrix: Extraordinary Contact” (published by iUniverse) by P.K. Swan, Kristine joins fellow human combatants to regain their freedom from a tyrannical Robot Empire.

In the dream-like virtual world, humans believe they are living an ordinary life in the 21st century. But they are actually far removed from the real world, in which humans have lost the last world war to the Robot Empire. For over 200 years, these survivors have lived in New Hope City, an underground haven beneath the Rocky Mountains.

Though both sides have signed a peace agreement, the fragile accord is made even more tenuous by recent renegade robot attacks against humans who try to begin life anew above ground. As the Robot Empire secretly pursues plans for a final showdown that will end the human race, a group of human scientists works on a weapons project that will give them a chance for survival.

Still reeling from the revelation of this alternate reality, Kristine is befriended by Paul Patterson and his family in New Hope City. Together they join a group of people who must re-enter the virtual world to get the information they need to complete their weapons project and finally be free of the Robot Empire.

Though “The Quantum Matrix” will especially appeal to teenaged and young-adult readers, adults will also find plenty to love in this fast-paced, science-fiction thriller. The characters grapple with many issues of interest, including religion and philosophy, and the scenario posed here begs the question: What would happen if the human race were attacked?
