AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 13, 2009 — Step back in time retro-style to Adelante’s fresh approach to marketing outside a brick and mortar store. Tricia Roberts, owner of Adelante Austin, has retrofitted a 1976 vintage Airstream into mobile shopping paradise. The Airstream features Palm Springs mod decor with fabric by Trina Turk, vintage furniture and sea grass carpeting.
The vision of “Curb Service” came from Tricia’s love of anything old and Austin’s motto to “Go Local” and “Keep Austin Weird.” “I love the fact that so many businesses are embracing the idea of mobile shops and with an Airstream this cute, who could resist?” says Grace Bonney, Design Sponge editor.
Curb Service will showcase local Austin designer trunk shows, themed shopping parties and Adelante’s new vintage furniture line. The Airstream is available to rent for private shopping soirees.

Adelante opened its doors in Austin in 1992 with a vision of a perfect pairing between the laid-back city and the hip-casual style of Adelante. The original Adelante began over 30 years ago in San Antonio, but the roots run much deeper. It started with authentic dresses, pottery and silver imported by Pat Taylor Mason and her partners from the interior of Mexico.
Tricia Mason Roberts started working in the family business as a teenager, watching and learning from her mother, Pat. “I took what I had learned from my mother, infused it with a 70s glam vibe, a dash of modern and a whole heap of cool, and Adelante Austin was born,” says Tricia Roberts. Since its start, Adelante has established itself as one of Austin’s finest family-owned boutiques.
