ANAHEIM HILLS, Calif., Nov. 18, 2008 — California-based design boutique Kena Kai has created protective sleeves for computers that are designed after the ubiquitous “INTER-DEPARTMENTAL MAIL” envelopes found in nearly every office. These full-grain Italian leather computer sleeves are designed especially for the 13.3″ MacBooks and the new “Ultra-Portable” notebooks with screens of 10″ and smaller.
Inspired by Steve Jobs’ classic introduction of the MacBook Air – where he revealed to the world his new slim machine by slipping it out of a paper INTER-DEPARTMENTAL MAIL envelope – Kena Kai has developed the concept into a practical, durable and unique mode of transporting today’s smaller laptop computers. As notebook computer sales begin to overtake desktop computer sales within the US, more and more computer manufacturers are offering these smaller machines in an answer to the public’s desire for greater portability.
“The beauty of today’s smaller, slimmer notebook computers is that they can be carried in your favorite bag but you still need to protect them from bumps and scratches. We all have our ‘favorite’ bag and most of the time it is not our ‘computer’ bag,” offered Geb Masterson, president of Kena Kai. “The great thing about our leather sleeves is that they offer the user practical protection, a fun unique design and they still allow the user to carry the machine in their favorite bag,” added Masterson.
The sleeves are available in two sizes. The larger sleeve is designed for today’s 13.3″-screen machines such as the new MacBook, the MacBook Air, the Voodoo Envy 133, the Dell XPS M1330, the HP Pavilion dv3500, and others. This larger sleeve will also fit the slightly smaller 12″-screen machines such as the Dell Mini 12.
The second, smaller sleeve is specifically for the smaller Ultra-Portable, or Netbook, machines such as the Dell Mini 9, the Asus Eee 1000, the Acer Aspire One, the MSI Wind U100 and the HP 2133 Mini-Note, along with others.
The new leather “INTER-DEPARTMENTAL MAIL” computer sleeves will retail for $69 for the smaller UltraPortable Sleeve and $79 for the 13″ Sleeve. The notebook sleeves are currently available in white fine Italian leather. The sleeves can be found at http://www.kenakai.com.
