IMN’s US Real Estate Opportunity & Private Fund Investing Forum Attracts Over 1100 Industry Leaders

NEW YORK, June 21, 2007 — Information Management Network (IMN) recently welcomed representatives from hundreds of top real estate funds to its 8th Annual US Real Estate Opportunity & Private Fund Investing Forum (http://www.imn.org/usop/pr) on May 29-30, 2007, at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. This conference, in conjunction with other conferences in IMN’s Real Estate Opportunity Fund series, is the premier event for showcasing the investment strategies being employed by leading Real Estate Funds to maximize returns in a highly competitive market. This year the event attracted over 1100 attendees, its largest audience to date.

Among the more notable points of discussion, 16% was stated as the new gross return expectation for opportunistic real estate investing. In addition, the path to value investing was deemed to be in fixing troubled ownership rather than fixing troubled properties. Finally, it was raised that capital-raising efforts were reported to be at an all-time high, with an increase from 35 billion in 2005 to 60 billion in 2006.

With two full days of sessions led by a high-level speaking faculty from the largest and most successful real estate funds, educational and networking opportunities were abundant. One of this year’s most popular sessions covered high-performance opportunistic real estate investing. Moderated by Deloitte LLP, top fund managers of the high-performance real estate industry shared their privileged insights with a rapt audience.

Another highlight of this year’s event was Ronnie Gilley Properties, LLC’s "Cocktails and Country," featuring leading country artists George Jones, Tracy Lawrence and Darryl Worley.

Regarding our 2006 edition of this event, Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO, Starwood Capital Group LLC, said, "Starwood Capital Group considers IMN’s Annual U.S. Opportunity & Private Fund Investment Forum to be one of the premier events in the industry. With over 1000 attendees, the conference attracts a distinguished group of speakers who provide unique insights into the latest trends in the capital and property markets. IMN’s conference gives us an opportunity to present our perspective on issues affecting the real estate investment community and to engage in spirited discussions with our peers before an informed and sophisticated audience of investors."
