NEW YORK, Nov. 29, 2005 — Information Management Network (IMN), a division of Euromoney/Institutional Investor, announces the 10th anniversary conference of the Super Bowl of Indexing, host site for the 2005 William F. Sharpe Indexing Achievement Awards. The Super Bowl of Indexing will take place at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, on December 4-7, 2005. The program is the largest of its kind in the world, focusing on indexing, index products, quantitative investing and risk management.
The speaker faculty includes the world’s leading experts and practitioners in the field, including Nobel Laureate William F. Sharpe and Vanguard founder John C. Bogle. This year’s conference will have over 100 public pension plan representatives in attendance, including staff members from 20 state systems. The heightened awareness of controlling costs and managing risks to maximize returns of investments in an environment of underfunded liabilities are the critical factors that draw the senior executives of the largest public plans in the country to the Super Bowl of Indexing.
At this year’s program, IMN has teamed up with IndexUniverse, a leading index business services media company, to produce the first annual William F. Sharpe Indexing Achievement Awards. On Monday evening, December 5, 2005, William F. Sharpe will be recognized for his lifetime achievements in the field of indexing. In recognition of the momentous contributions of Sharpe to the field of indexing, the awards will bear his name forever forward. Nathan Most, the "father" of the exchange-traded fund in the US, will be honored, posthumously, with the first William F. Sharpe Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition, the industry’s contributions during the past year will be recognized with five additional William F. Sharpe Indexing Achievement Awards. Award categories include Most Innovative Pension Fund, Most Innovative Benchmark Index, Most Innovative Index Fund/ETF, Best Index Related Research Paper and Most Innovative Index Derivative. The winners of the 2005 awards will be announced at the Super Bowl of Indexing Awards Dinner on Monday, December 5, 2005. The winners of the awards have been selected by a panel of eight of the world’s leading academics in the field of indexing research.
