For the first time in history, the Internet is not bound by English language restrictions, as IDNs make use of one or more non-Latin characters, such as characters from the Danish, French, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages, among many others.
A recent article on IDNNews.com highlights the explosive growth in the multi-lingual domain segment with almost half of all IDNs being in Chinese and Kanji. This is of no surprise, given the population of both China and Japan and the way in which they are actively embracing the online space.
