NEW YORK, Dec. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Energy efficiency firm, iAG Energy recently established a business relationship with Amalgamated Warbasse Houses. The 2600 family co-operative complex located in Coney Island, Brooklyn expands over 26.7 acres, making it one of the largest properties in New York City. Due to its large size and complex nature, the property's consulting engineer contacted iAG Energy for assistance in the massive project.

"As the consulting engineer who is retained by Amalgamated Warbasse Houses, I searched for a firm that had the requisite experience to perform a Local Law 87 study and report for my client. I ultimately selected iAG Energy because they appeared to have the knowledge and skills required to perform the audit," said Andrew J. Desiderio, P.E., the consulting engineer of the complex.
The substantial estate, roughly 1.2 million square feet, consists of five 24-story buildings with 2,585 apartment units, a shopping center, and 1,215 leased parking spaces. A significant and unique trait of the building is the Total Energy Power Plant, which supplies Amalgamated Warbasse cooperators with heat, air conditioning, and electricity.

As a New York City property with a tax block number ending in three, Amalgamated Warbasse Houses is required to submit Local Law 87 data by the end of the month. Under the mandated provision, the property is required to undergo energy audits and retro-commissioning. Taking all aspects of the property into consideration as well as time constraints, this will most likely be iAG Energy's most ambitious project to date.
