Higher education need not be daunting; here’s an insider’s hint on how to ace college
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28, 2009 — Today’s incoming college students will encounter lots of surprises, will need to make many adjustments and face new dilemmas. The stakes are high. Who or what can help them be better prepared for the academic and social stresses that await them in college?
Dr. Andrew G. Kadar’s new book, “The No-Bull Guide to Acing College Life” (published by iUniverse), comes from a veteran student and instructor who has developed practical insider advice that can guide freshmen to thrive in college and “ace” their classes, while having a great time. Among Dr. Kadar’s pearls of wisdom are guides to study “smarter,” rather than “harder;” how to dodge the stress of deadlines; hints few know on how to enroll in “filled” classes; how to make confident decisions on joining campus organizations, fraternities and sororities; and how to stay healthy – avoiding issues with sex and drugs as well as the dreaded “freshman 15.” Dr. Kadar’s guide can help students get better grades with less stress and fewer hours of study, find ways to overcome adversity like boring professors or bad exam results, as well as find ways to get the most joy and value out of the college experience. With short, easy-to-read chapters organized under clear topics and concise “to-do” lists concluding each bit of advice, high school students and their parents, adult learners or nontraditional students, and anyone interested in getting the most out of their college experience will find this guide a confidence-builder. No Bull!
The book will be at the California Library Association, Oct. 31 – Nov. 1.
