FORESTVILLE, Calif., Nov. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Farmhouse Inn has always prided itself on providing guests a true experience of the California wine country lifestyle, and now the Inn's guests are showing how strongly connected they feel to the community by donating funds to the local elementary school and youth park.

"This year we joined an exciting micro-philanthropy program called the Good Night Foundation  (www.goodnightfoundation.org).  The foundation organizes financial support for community non-profits selected by inns like ours.  My brother and I both have young children and we support our kid's schools and the education community very heavily. Now our guests are enthusiastically pitching in as well," says Farmhouse Inn owner Catherine Bartolomei.

Through the Good Night Foundation, Farmhouse Inn visitors add a small donation to each night's stay, and those donations add up quickly. In September alone, guests donated over $1200, earmarked for the Forestville Elementary School and the Forestville Youth Park. According to Bartolomei, such donations go a long way in this community of 3,500. "The Good Night Foundation distributes grants twice a year, so the school and park will receive their first contributions in January of 2014, and we are really looking forward to the check presentation, based on our guests' generosity so far."

Bartolomei sees her guests' enthusiasm for the program as evidence that they are embracing the community and its lifestyle: "Very few of our guests opt out of donating to the local community, and sometimes they even ask if they can donate more. This makes a big difference for these charities, and provides more support than we could generate on our own."

"Our guests come from all over the country and all over the world, but their generosity tells me they feel at home here. This is a small community; when our guests drive or walk around town, they see the elementary school and the youth park, and they feel connected. They see it, love it, and want to support this country lifestyle for generations to come."
