Friedwald Diabetes Center Celebrates Grand Opening, Names Dr. Don Zwickler as Director

NEW CITY, N.Y., Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Diabetes Support and Education services in Rockland County have a brand new home.

To help celebrate the Grand Opening of the Friedwald Diabetes Center, there will be a Buffet Dinner beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12th.

Introductory remarks will be delivered by Town of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence.

The program will feature a Diabetes Prevention seminar presented by noted physician Dr. Don Zwickler, who has been named the center's Director.

"I have had the privilege of taking care of many diabetic patients at Friedwald Center for the last several years," said Dr Zwickler. "The illustrious administration and staff have expended a great deal of time and effort to ensure excellent care of diabetic patients."

"The time has come, however, for an even greater advancement in diabetes care at Friedwald Center to facilitate the difficult transition that patients have to make when they move from acute care facilities to a rehabilitation center and then to home."

Located at 475 New Hempstead Road in New Hempstead, NY, everyone in the community is invited to meet our staff, tour the new location and learn about the diabetes services that are offered – including Diabetes Prevention Programs, Individual Consultation, Group Classes, Medical Nutrition Therapy, Support Groups, and other Special Programs.

"We extend our congratulations and best wishes to CDE Laura Ronen and the entire staff upon the opening of the Friedwald Diabetes Center," said Dorothy Harper of The American Diabetes Association.

The new Diabetes Center is affiliated with the American Diabetes Association, Novo Nordisk, Nyack Hospital, Valley Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Westchester Medical Center, and all major New York medical facilities. Educational services are offered in a soothing, non-clinical environment.

Steve Staum, Administrator of Friedwald Center, is very enthusiastic about the latest addition to Friedwald Center's vast array of specialized services and programs.
