French Quarter's Voodoo Detective Makes Third Appearance in Primal Creatures, Eric Wilder's Newest Novel

Louisiana mystery writer Eric Wilder has penned his third novel in the French Quarter mystery series that features Wyatt Thomas, New Orleans' favorite sleuth

EDMOND, Okla., March 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Just forty miles south of New Orleans, the Louisiana wetlands play host to perhaps the largest population of migratory birds on earth. Bordering the Mississippi River, and just barely above sea level, this delicately balanced ecological region is disappearing at an alarming rate. The area features lush vegetation and is rife with bobcats, feral hogs, and all manner of wildlife. These exotic south Louisiana wetlands provide the backdrop for Primal Creatures, Eric Wilder's newest mystery.

After a Hollywood producer hires him to investigate the strange death of a prominent actor, French Quarter sleuth Wyatt Thomas travels to a secluded monastery deep in the Louisiana wetlands. A hurricane and the fangs of a rougarou (Cajun werewolf) stall the investigation, threatening Thomas' life before he can complete his task. Along the way, he deals with wild pigs, voodoo, and local Cajun culture.

"Definitely worth a read if you are a fan of mystery, voodoo, and unknown creatures," I Heart Books. "My heart pumped right along with the characters," Wicca Witch Book Blog. "The story is fast paced, the characters pop out of the page in a lively manner, the locations are familiar enough to give a clear image, but exotic enough that you don't feel like you've been there and done that," Top of the Heap Reviews. "Eric Wilder makes you feel like you're right there in the story, along with the characters, and you might want to check behind you," BeMiOwn Book Blog. "Primal Creatures is a colorful zydeco of a read that's part mystery, part thriller, part travelogue and all fun," The Preternatural Post.

Born near exotic Black Bayou in northwest Louisiana, Eric Wilder spent many sweltering Louisiana evenings listening to ghost stories and tales of voodoo. His grandmother's stories of mysterious creatures haunting south Louisiana's swamps were never far from his thoughts. He and wife Marilyn live in Oklahoma where he continues to pen novels with a southern flair.

Primal Creatures, ISBN: 978-0-9791165-6-8, retails for $18.95 as a paperback original, and $3.95 as an eBook. It is available on the web at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Kobo, iBooks and Sony.
