The handbook incorporates all phases of military service, including infertility treatment options for stateside personnel prior to deployment, proceeding with treatment and protecting fertility during deployment, and family building options for those wounded during service. The handbook was made possible by a generous educational grant from IntegraMed® Fertility.

"IntegraMed® Fertility is proud to support The AFA's publication of "Combating Infertility During Military Service," stated Doug Weiss, SVP Sales, Marketing & Business Development for IntegraMed® Fertility. "We applaud their hard work to educate our servicemen and women about fertility preservation and infertility treatment.  We share The AFA's commitment to ensure that those who serve our country have access to the information, benefits and treatment they need to create the families they deserve."

The AFA's Program Director, Corey Whelan, stated, "As a little girl I grew up believing the world was a better place because America existed. That feeling was fostered by the pride I had in my dad, who received a purple heart for his service during WWII and my mom, who tended a Victory Garden in his absence and held on to quiet hope back home." She continued, "Family and love of country have always been woven together for me. I am proud of The American Fertility Association's commitment to supporting our military and am grateful to serve a role in this important work."

The AFA is already engaged in the second phase of the project, a yearlong campaign that includes national distribution, speaking engagements, and collaborations with government entities and not-for-profit organizations serving military personnel and their families.

Ken Mosesian, The AFA's Executive Director, stated, "Our veterans and those who are serving in the uniformed and armed services have given all they have to this nation. We are compelled to do all we can to assist them in having a family as a means of demonstrating our heartfelt appreciation for their sacrifice."
