LOS ANGELES, Oct. 1, 2010 — Mikawaya USA kicked off the "New Flavor Contest" today and are asking fans of Mikawaya Mochi Ice Cream to vote on a new flavor.
"Mochi Ice Cream is all about fresh, fun ideas, and we can't wait to see which flavor all the Mochi Ice Cream eaters out there want to try next," third-generation owner Frances Hashimoto said. "The contest will run over the holidays, so we are offering three fun, festive flavors: pumpkin, gingerbread or peppermint!"
Mochi Ice Cream is a unique, Japanese-inspired novelty with rich, creamy ice cream wrapped in sweet, rice dough. Mochi Ice Cream is available in a 2-pack or 6-pack and there are currently seven flavor choices that include the more traditional chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and Kona coffee, but also venture into more Asian-influenced flavors such as mango, green tea and red bean (not available in the 2-pack). Each serving of Mochi Ice Cream is 100 calories, except for vanilla, which comes in at 90 calories.

The winning flavor will be available for a limited time during the fourth quarter of 2011 in select retail locations.
