Entertainment Earth Gets It – Girls Are Geeks, Too!

Online retailer's "Geek Girl Diva" recognized by GeekDad / Wired Magazine

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18, 2009 — Girls are geeks, too, and Entertainment Earth – http://www.entertainmentearth.com, a worldwide multi-channel retailer and wholesaler of action figures, bobble heads, toys, gifts, and collectibles, gets it. The proof is in the company's popular website blog and in GeekDad's / Wired Magazine's recent naming of EE's "Geek Girl Diva" as one of the "100 Geeks You Should Be Following on Twitter."

In January, Entertainment Earth empowered its "Geek Girl Diva" with her own blog and turned her loose to build a following on Twitter. Thousands of loyal followers later, she's established a terrific network of other female fans that are just as passionate as she is about all things geek.

In addition, her June 16, 2009 "An Open Letter to the L.A. Times from a Geek Girl" garnered an amazing 60,000 hits in just its first two days! http://geekgirldiva.entertainmentearth.com/2009/06/open-letter-to-la-times-from-geek-girl.html

"While you're only hearing about the recent rise of the female geek, geek girls and fangirls have been around forever," says Entertainment Earth's Geek Girl Diva. "We play Warcraft, love FPS video games, and made up 40% of the San Diego Comic-Con 2009 attendees. We love sci-fi and comic books, collect action figures, and sit around quoting Star Wars and playing with lightsabers just like our male counterparts."

All too often when companies market to girl geeks, they limit those efforts to Twilight or Harry Potter, but while Twilighters and Harry Potter fangirls are certainly part of the geek girl spectrum, geek girl tastes range far and wide.

Knowing this, the Geek Girl section of Entertainment Earth's website was created using feedback from many of these women and includes a variety of items from Doctor Who, Firefly, DC Comics, Star Wars, Star Trek, and more. If you ever feel like people just don't get it, rest assured: Entertainment Earth knows that girls are geeks, too! Check it out: http://bit.ly/ggdiva
