Doctor and Song Writer Shares Struggles with Mental Illness Through Verse

‘A Time to Cry: A Poetic Memoir of Madness, Depression and Unrequited Love’

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 2, 2009 — Throughout history, writers have expressed their deepest hopes, fears and pain through poetry. Some of the greatest poems and sonnets in the English language have been born out of the depths of personal tragedy. “A Time to Cry” (published by Trafford) by Paul Kloschinsky explores, through poetry, one man’s struggle with mental illness and loss.

“A Time to Cry” has crossed the boundaries of perception, to expose the heart in all of its joy and misery. What lies within is the truth of the so often experienced emotions that we feel yet never speak of. Readers of “A Time to Cry” may find their own experiences reflected in ways left unspoken.

Your splendor lives on in my mind tonight,
The soft glow of your face as you climbed the stairs.
No harsh lines leaped forth in the dim moonlight
Or ungraceful moves, just the curls in your hair.
We laughed and we danced and you held my hand tight,
With a bond that I thought should never end,
Soon the music ended and something so right
Was left hanging in thin air, a prayer to send.
So how was I to know you were attached,
With husband and child that both hold you dear,
All I knew is that we were perfectly matched,
My heart leapt though they say I can’t draw you near.
I didn’t know what to say or how far I’d get,
But your face drew first blood from the moment we met.
