EAGAN, Minn., Feb. 23, 2007 — Crutchfield Dermatology (Eagan, MN) reports that Restylane appears to have even greater benefits than previously understood. This product is a popular injectable skin filler containing hyaluronic acid used to correct wrinkles, scars, and skin problems associated with aging. Research published in the February 2007 Archives of Dermatology demonstrates that Restylane stimulates natural collagen production and improves sun-damaged skin.
"This confirms what I am seeing clinically in many of my patients. I recommend a follow-up treatment in eight months, but I rarely have to use even half of the volume at a follow-up visit that I did initially. The study was condicted at the University of Michigan Medical School-Ann Arbor. "The study was done exclusively with Restylane. Other branded hyaluronic agents such as Captique or Juvederm were not studied so the results cannot be directly attributed to them. However, I would be surprised if future research did not show similar results with these agents. In the war against wrinkles, I oftentimes combine several agents such as Botox Cosmetic, Restylane, chemical peels and Pixel laser treatments for facial rejuvenation.
