CO2 Detector Warns You When Indoor Air Is Hazardous to Your Health

FENTON, Mich., Sept. 28, 2009 — The eSense Fresh Air Indicator (FAI) is a simple, low-cost and maintenance-free carbon dioxide alarm designed to be installed in offices, classrooms or anywhere indoor air quality is important. An audible warning and flashing light indicate too much carbon dioxide, which means additional fresh air ventilation is required.

Proper ventilation has been shown to increase productivity and the ability to learn according to several documented studies. It can also reduce the risk of airborne sickness such as the H1N1 flu virus, which is too small to be trapped by air filtration systems.

"The FAI is the right product at the right time," said Ray Hicks, President of CO2Meter.com. "A high level of carbon dioxide means bad ventilation, which can make you sick. If there were too many airborne bacteria or viruses in your office or classroom, wouldn't you want to know?"

Originally developed at the request of environmental engineers, the FAI is designed to meet the LEED specifications for CO2 monitoring for indoor air quality. LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of energy efficient and healthy "green" buildings.

The eSense FAI can be plugged into the wall, or it can be connected to a demand controlled ventilation system.

The theory behind monitoring CO2 as an indicator of overall indoor air quality is well-documented and accepted as a worldwide standard. As the number of people in an enclosed space increase, the CO2 level increases along with airborne levels of dust, mold, bacteria, viruses and volatile organic compounds from carpets, perfumes and other sources.
