ALPHARETTA, Ga., Aug. 18, 2005 — Civitium, LLC, the market-leading consulting firm for municipal broadband and Digital Community initiatives, has been selected to provide strategy, business planning and technical advisory services for the City and County of San Francisco.
Launched on Tuesday, San Francisco TechConnect is a new City-wide initiative for universal, affordable, wireless broadband access.
"After being selected to perform the City’s broadband feasibility study, Civitium quickly applied their knowledge and lessons learned to help the City refine its strategy and develop a Request for Information and Comment," Chris Vein, Sr. Advisor for Technology to Mayor Gavin Newsom, announced. "Civitium’s guidance was critical to ensure that the country’s brightest minds – from the public, nonprofit and private sector – can present creative and innovative options for meeting our goals," he added.
Civitium has been retained to provide advice and guidance on issues related to strategy, policy, business models and technology options. The firm also authored the City’s Request for Information and Comment for the deployment of a citywide wireless broadband network.

The City expects to receive responses to the Request for Information and Comment over the next two months, and then to determine the best course of action.
